INTAG Puerto Rico

Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences has a rich tradition of working in Puerto Rico. Since the 1970s, college students have been traveling to Puerto Rico to better understand tropical agriculture. Strong linkages have been established with the University of Puerto Rico at the Mayaguez campus where Penn State students can link with Puerto Rican students to learn about the local culture and improve language skills.
In recent years, students have worked closely with natural resource conservation officers to identify limited resource farmers and complete modified participatory rural appraisals in western Puerto Rico. These experiences have helped students by preparing them to work in Peace Corps, international businesses, and government offices in places like the USDA.
Spring break is a great time to improve Spanish speaking skills as well as work on getting some tropical rays to ward off the winter blues. Take a peak at the fun students had on the last trip to beautiful Puerto Rico.
